3rd Annual Cottonwood Creek Cleanup for BC Rivers Day

  • 80 Lakeside Drive Nelson, British Columbia, V1L 6B9 Canada (map)

Lead organization: Friends of Kootenay Lake Stewardship Society

Join Friends of Kootenay Lake Stewardship Society for our 3rd Annual Cottonwood Creek Cleanup in celebration of BC Rivers Day! We’ll be cleaning up Cottonwood Creek starting from Kootenay Lake and working upstream on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We’ll meet at the Lakeside Walk Bridge, just before the Recycling Depot. Friends of Kootenay Lake will provide a limited supply of garbage pickers, gloves, and buckets, so please bring your own cleanup supplies if you have them. To help us get everyone signed in quickly, please complete the event waiver before arriving, which can be found through our Facebook event. Wear sturdy, weather-appropriate clothing and rubber boots as some of the cleanup will be in the stream. Bring water and any other personal items you may need. All ages and community members are welcome. Come help us keep Cottonwood Creek and its surrounding habitat clean and healthy!
