Join the Regional District of Central Kootenay for the Goat River Watershed Celebration, a free, family-friendly afternoon celebrating Rivers Day and the importance of our waterways.

CKISS will be there with a booth and fun, hands-on activities to help you learn about aquatic invasive species (AIS) and how to prevent their spread.

AIS Jeopardy
Test your aquatic invasive species knowledge! Review our AIS brochure and ID books and answer trivia questions to learn more about invasive species and how they impact our lakes and rivers.
Clean, Drain, Dry Challenge
Take on our toy boat challenge! Practice the steps boaters can take to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species:
Clean your boat and gear.
Drain all water from your boat and equipment.
Dry everything completely.
Decontaminate your boat before launching into a new waterbody.
These simple actions help protect our waterways and prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species.
Enjoy an afternoon of river-themed activities!
The celebration will open with remarks from yaqan nuʔkiy Councillor Robin Louie.
Explore the Goat River watershed, meet local organizations, and enjoy activities for all ages, including:
Make your own river-friendship bracelet.
Colouring contest for river fans of all ages.
Explore a 3D model of the Goat River Watershed.
Grab an “I Love the Goat River Watershed” sticker.
Refreshments, snacks, and cold drinks.
Visit information booths to complete your bingo card for a chance to win a Creston goodies basket.
Special activities:
1:30 PM: Creston Museum slideshow, Electrified: Electrical Power Comes to Creston
3:00 PM: Wildsight’s fun and lively hands-on Sharing Water game.
