Rivers Day at the Rain Garden

  • 2300 Lions Way Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, V3C 2A8 Canada (map)

Lead organization: Coquitlam River Watershed Society

Join us at the Lions Park rain garden for a BC Rivers Day celebration and participate in a riverside cleanup! This demonstration rain garden shows how these small-scale green infrastructure projects help manage stormwater while filtering pollutants before they reach our rivers.

We'll share results from our recent soil and plant sampling for heavy metals, talk about the ongoing monitoring planned for the site, give a shoutout to the volunteers who've kept the garden watered, and show you how you can build a rain garden at home. This is also a chance to thank the community for the support that made this project possible.
We'll close with some tips on respectful recreation along the river, including how to enjoy these spaces while keeping them healthy for fish, wildlife, and each other.

We'll meet at the Lions Park rain garden, near the building that's just past the covered shelter. Registration is encouraged. Please register through this Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfqlOvyHxIwGaiWLIJtnSRcVWVTstrsgWl_FN8O0uenkuDBzg/viewform?usp=dialog

If you’re participating in the cleanup, please wear long pants and sturdy footwear.

Come learn, ask questions, and celebrate the river with us!
