BC Trails Day 2026: Thank you, BC!

Our new BC Trails Day 2026 report is full of stories, photos and numbers that show just how much people across BC care about trails and the outdoors.

On June 6, communities across the province came together for the 6th annual BC Trails Day. Despite rainy weather in many places, more than 2,700 people took part in 72 events in over 50 communities. There were guided hikes, trail work parties, bike rides, paddling trips, invasive species removals, safety sessions, youth activities, music and local celebrations.

What made the day special was the variety of events and the people behind them. Some groups built or repaired trails. Others cleared brush, removed invasive plants, picked up garbage, shared safety and etiquette tips, or introduced people to new places close to home.

Together, event hosts reported more than 60 km of trail maintained or built, 25 danger trees removed, 17 bags of holly pulled, boardwalk built, Scotch broom cleared and many new connections made between volunteers, clubs and trail users.

This year, ORCBC was also able to award 30 BC Trails Day microgrants, totalling $9,300. These small grants helped volunteer-led groups cover practical costs like tools, supplies, food and event materials, making it easier for communities to host events across the province.

BC Trails Day may be one day, but it reflects the year-round work that keeps trails open, welcoming and cared for.

Thank you to everyone who hosted, volunteered, participated, donated, sponsored or helped spread the word. And thank you to our sponsors and partners for helping make BC Trails Day possible, including the BC Parks License Plate Program, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, RC Strategies and McElhanney.

Save the date: BC Trails Day 2027 is June 5.
