Casino Royal Rebuild
GRANT: $6,000
The Gillard Mountain Bike Trail Network, crafted by local trail-building legends over 17 years, became one of B.C.’s first officially sanctioned mountain biking networks when Recreation Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC) adopted it in 2018. Since then, the Mountain Bikers of the Central Okanagan (MTBCO) have partnered with RSTBC to bring the network’s wooden technical trail features (TTFs) up to modern construction standards. After years of steady progress, only one trail remained to be upgraded: Casino Royale. Spanning 2 km and featuring 33 wooden structures, Casino Royale required extensive modifications to meet compliance standards.
Casino Royale holds a special place in the mountain biking community. Known for its steep lines, intricate wooden features, and unforgettable ride experience, it’s considered a bucket-list trail for riders from across Canada and beyond. Restoring Casino Royale has preserved a unique piece of mountain biking heritage and ensured that this iconic ride continues to challenge and inspire riders for years to come.
