Lead organization: Shuswap Children's Association
For 3 days, youth will have the opportunity to take part in a weekend overnight trip along the Shuswap River.
On Saturday, September 20, the youth will be joined by Indigenous knowledge keeper, Laura Dolha, from Ancestral Heartbeat Tours, for a morning of Indigenous teaching and learning. This 3-hour session will provide youth with an opportunity to learn about local plants, share some cold traditional tea and ice cream as well as engage in some Indigenous drumming and signing. To wrap up the day, youth will take part in a scavenger hunt, which will require them to identify local plants, animals and insects that live along the banks of the Shuswap River.
This will be a private event, and registration for the weekend camp will be completed by Shuswap Children's Association. There is a $175 event fee.
