Webinar: How to win a Outdoor Recreation Fund grant

With few other funding sources available for volunteer-led recreation groups, demand for the Outdoor Recreation Fund continues to grow - improve your odds by attending our webinar.

Last year, the fund, managed by the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC, awarded more than $250,000 to 32 projects across the province. But the grant committee reviewed more than 200 proposals, totalling nearly $1.6 million in requests. The result? Many worthwhile projects went unfunded simply because the need far exceeded the dollars available.

The Outdoor Recreation Fund is accepting applications from December 8, 2025 to January 20, 2026. Give your organization a better chance of securing a grant by attending our webinar on applying for the Outdoor Recreation Fund. The webinar will cover everything you need to know to submit a solid proposal.

Our two speakers know the Outdoor Recreation Fund better than anyone.

  • Tomke Augustin is the Grant Program Manager for the ORCBC. She will present an overview of the Fund, including who can apply, how to apply, and which projects are eligible, using previously funded projects as examples.

  • Kathleen Ayre, our second panellist, is the founder of Kootenay Connex, which helps organizations apply strategies for successful funding applications. She will share with attendees approaches for preparing standout applications.

The webinar will include a Q&A session when attendees can ask our guests specific questions. The entire webinar will be recorded and shared with all registrants, along with key takeaways, so sign up even if you can’t make it.

Anyone interested in the Outdoor Recreation Fund will leave the webinar with valuable insights and a better understanding of how to write a winning grant proposal.
