Lead organization: District of Vanderhoof, Vanderhoof Canoe & Kayak Club and Nechako Watershed Roundtable Youth Engagement Group

The Nechako Watershed Roundtable (NWR) Youth Engagement Group will co-host BC Rivers Day 2025 in partnership with the Vanderhoof Canoe & Paddling Club and the District of Vanderhoof. This collaborative celebration will highlight the importance of the Nechako River and promote water stewardship in the community.

Morning programming will feature youth-focused games and activities centred on water health, recreation, safety and culture. Additional opportunities will include guided hatchery tours at the Nechako White Sturgeon Conservation Centre, Learn to Fish workshops, and educational seminars from the Northwest Invasive Plant Council, Nechako Valley Search and Rescue, and other local partners.

In the afternoon, the VCPC will have canoe and paddle races. There will be a community BBQ (sponsorship and host details to be confirmed). Further details, including a full agenda, will be shared as the date approaches.
