Lead organization: Wildsight Invermere
Celebrate the mighty Columbia River on BC Rivers Day with a group paddle from Invermere to Radium.
Note start time is 9:30am MOUNTAIN TIME, finishing 2.30pm.
This year’s paddle we’ll have a few extra tidbits to get stuck into along the way, including:
- trying your hand at testing and comparing the water quality at different locations, with Wildsight Educator, Jessie Caza, and Lake Windermere Ambassadors.
- highlighting aquatic invasive species we need to watch out for and how to prevent spreading them, with Brittany Eliadis from East Kootenay Invasive Species Council.
This event is open to all ages. Please note that although there will be some experienced paddlers in the group, it is not a ‘guided’ paddle so you are responsible for your own safety and preparedness.
You can bring your own canoe/ kayak/ paddle board or other suitable vessel, or you can rent one from Columbia River Paddle for a special discounted price of $60 per person in a canoe or double/single kayak, which includes a shuttle back to Invermere. To book only the shuttle back to Invermere with your own boat, it’s $25/person. (Prices excl. tax).
Let us know you’ll be coming by registering at: https://wildsight.ca/events/bc-rivers-day-2/ .
