Lead organization: Kitimat Understanding The Environment

The Understanding the Environment Society’s annual Kitimat River Clean-Up is a community volunteer event focused on protecting and restoring the health of the Kitimat River watershed. Participants help remove litter and debris from riverbanks and surrounding areas, supporting local wildlife and a cleaner environment for everyone.

Volunteers will meet at a designated location near the Kitimat River and receive safety instructions and clean-up supplies. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear, and bring reusable gloves and a water bottle if possible.

The event is free and open to all ages and abilities. Food, tea, and water will be provided, and participants will also have a chance to win door prizes. To participate, please sign up using the QR code on the event poster.
