Lead organization: East Kootenay Invasives Species Council

EKISC will be collaborating with the Elk River Alliance during BC Rivers Day for a community river cleanup in Fernie. The event will bring community members together to care for the Elk River through hands-on watershed stewardship while learning more about the importance of protecting local waterways.

EKISC will host an Aquatic Invasive Species Outreach Booth alongside the cleanup, providing an opportunity for participants and community members to learn about aquatic invasive species, their impacts on freshwater ecosystems, and simple actions they can take to help prevent their spread.

The Fernie cleanup will take place at Dogwood Park Boat Launch. Participants should come prepared for outdoor work along the river, including appropriate clothing, footwear, water, and sun protection.
