New faces on ORCBC’s board of directors
ORCBC is pleased to welcome several new directors to our Board following our recent election, and to thank the directors who are stepping down after contributing their time and leadership to the organization.
This year, we welcome five new directors:
Kristy Jahn, Mountain Biking BC
Jane Miedzinski, Tumbler Ridge Outdoor Recreation Association
Sharon Pickthorne, Horse Council BC
Adam Steele, Federation of Mountain Clubs of BC
Evangeline Clifton, Heiltsuk Trail Makers
They bring a wide range of experience from across BC’s outdoor recreation community, including trails, mountain biking, equestrian recreation, hiking and mountaineering, Indigenous-led trail work, community stewardship, and regional recreation development.
We are also glad to have Eric Vanderkruk of Columbia Valley Greenways Trail Alliance, Ciel Sander of Trails BC, and Doug Brackett of BC Snowmobile Federation re-elected to the Board. Ken Matthews of Back Country Horsemen of BC and Rod Clapton of BC Federation of Drift Fishers continue in their terms and were not up for election this year.
Following the election, the Board also confirmed its executive officers for the year ahead. Eric Vanderkruk was re-elected as Chair, Ciel Sander was re-elected as Vice Chair, Ken Matthews was re-elected as Treasurer, and Kristy Jahn was elected as Secretary.
A sincere thank you goes to our departing directors: Dave Wharton of the Federation of Mountain Clubs of BC, Kim Reeves of the Four Wheel Drive Association of BC, Rocky Nenka of New Pathways to Gold Society, and Phil Rankin of the Recreational Canoeing Association of BC.
We are grateful for the time, insight, and commitment they have brought to ORCBC. Their contributions have helped strengthen our work as a provincial voice for outdoor recreation in British Columbia.
As we look ahead, we are excited to work with this Board and our members to continue advocating for sustainable access, stronger recreation infrastructure, volunteer support, responsible recreation, and long-term investment in BC’s outdoors.
