Gold Panning

  • Okanagan Science Centre 2704 British Columbia 6 Vernon, BC, V1T 5G4 Canada (map)

Lead organization: Okanagan Science Centre

BC Rivers Day is an annual celebration of our province’s waterways! It’s a time to recognize the environmental, cultural, and recreational importance of rivers in British Columbia, and to promote their stewardship.

Celebrate BC Rivers Day with the Okanagan Science Centre and join our special Gold Panning Day, where you’ll learn some of the techniques used by prospectors to search for gold. We’ll be panning for pyrite — “fool’s gold” — and you can take home the sparkling treasures you discover. It’s a hands-on way to connect with the rich natural history of our rivers and have some fun along the way!

All supplies are provided by the Okanagan Science Centre.

There are two sessions: 10:30-11:30 am and 12:30-1:30 pm. There is a $5 fee.

Registration is available at okscience.ca and space is limited.
