Following the successful mapping phase in April, BC Parks Foundation, in collaboration with BC Parks, is excited to invite you to Phase II of our pilot project: the removal of Scotch Broom, an invasive plant species threatening the native biodiversity of Goldstream Provincial Park.
This is a hands-on stewardship opportunity for volunteers of all experience levels. Come join us in restoring the ecosystem and enjoy a day in nature with fellow conservation-minded individuals!
What to Bring:
- Working or gardening gloves (if you have them)
- Loopers or hand clippers (we will have a few extras to share)
- Plenty of water
- Snacks and a lunch if staying for both shifts
- Sunscreen and a hat – work will be outdoors and mostly in the sun
- Sturdy shoes and comfortable clothing
What to Expect:
- Physical activity (removing broom can be tiring – hence the shift structure)
- Training and support on safe removal techniques
- Time in a beautiful natural setting
- The chance to meet local biologists and stewardship professionals
- Volunteer certificate available upon request
Let’s work together to protect and restore our local ecosystems. Your contribution makes a real impact!
Spots are limited – please register by June 1, 2025.
